I have been watching wrestling for about 35 years now and I have seen a lot of things happen and a lot of things come and go. What I have seen since impact started has made me ask this question. What is TNA thinking?
I do feel like comedy has a place in wresting, as long as it is not over done and done right. TNA seems to have decided that the comedy comes first and the wrestling comes second. It seems that almost every angle they have going has some sort of comedic element to it. Look comedy is not what got you where you are today. The wrestling, the new stars and the new attitude is the foundation of what you have built. You have to get back to what brought you this far and make that your priority. What you have done to some of your new young stars like AJ Stiles is just criminal. Just because he is good at comedy does not mean it has to be his main focus. He, like many othe of the young stars needs to lead the comany into higher ratings. I do think Samoa Joe should be holding the title and that new and veteran stars should be chasing him.
There is a place for veteran stars in the company and even as title holders but not as the main focus all time. They are great to put over new stars over or to validate a title at times and sometimes it is gd to see them a man storyline or at least in one with other new stars.
My words to TNA is do not let Russo run the show, just contribute to it and make sure the comedy you use is good comedy. Watch your story-lines to make sure they make sense and follow through with them.

This post would be better on the TNA site: tna.wrestlingblog.com
I agree with a lot of what you say. Comedy, gimmick matches, briefcases, poles and all this stuff has been going on in TNA a lot. This is not how you build up a reputable wrestling promotion. It’s more of a soap opera mixed with a circus. I think the fans need to let TNA know they’re tuning in every Thursday to see wrestling and not this (unless they want to see it which is a bit weird in my opinion). Nonetheless, TNA needs to get back on track. And Jarrett needs to stop greenlighting all these ideas.
I made a post about the reasoning behind TNA’s booking style. It’s not really a good explanation given though: http://tna.wrestlingblog.com/2008/02/06/362/
Yes, that is what I mean about TNA. What makes gimmick matches interesting,is first off they have to make sense and be entertaining and second they don’t need to be every week. The more often you have them the less special they are. The same goes for comedy, don’t over do it! Most of all do not make too many of your stars into cartoon charactors and do not do it at all to some of your best!( AJ Stiles in a turkey suit)Jarrett needs to step back and look at the product and see if it is really what he had in mind. The wrestling is the conerstone of the product as are the new stars and that is what should always come first. I have been around long enough to have seen many promotions and what TNA is doing right now has me more confused than ever.
