NEWS: |Sun| The Sun recently interviewed Hulk Hogan. Hogan reveals that himself & Eric Bischoff are almost ready to launch a new wrestling promotion. Here is what Hogan had to say in the interview:

The basic idea will be the same as WWE, but I pray to god it’s nothing like what’s on TV now.
I’m a fan, but it is pretty boring programming. It’s watered down and unexciting, and the viewer doesn’t have any option except to have it shoved down his throat.
We’re going to have a lot of back story for viewers to understand why these people are doing what they’re doing.
It won’t be family members in the back writing storylines on things they know nothing about.
There are a lot of unhappy campers in the WWE and there are also a new breed of wrestlers that Vince McMahon hasn’t explored yet, that we have.
And I’m in better shape than I have been for about 10 years.
I have no idea what Vince thinks or knows about all of this…

So many thoughts are racing through my head about how to respond to this…
Hogan makes several good points: WWE fans do indeed have content shoved down their throats; There are wrestlers who are unhappy; The product is watered down; The product is not interesting. I agree with him on all those points.
But do we honestly think a promotion run by Hogan & Bischoff will be a good one? Are these the two people you want running a promotion? I think Bischoff would be an excellent candidate given his history and experience, but add Hogan to the mix and you got problems.
But another way to look at it is the same thing all us fans know: Competition benefits the fans. TNA is not a true competitor to WWE and that’s fine. And in fact, that shouldn’t be their goal. But Three promotions can only benefit the fans because that means three unique (hopefully) products.
(By the way, Hogan is NOT in better shape no matter what decade you’re talking about. His last injury occurred by simply getting off the couch. Since when does that mean your body is in good shape?)
And back to my first point, are these really the guys you want running a promotion? Hell no! Hogan has the ego of an entire wrestling roster and is poison in my eyes. But his name carries a lot of weight and will be great for marketing and adding immediate credibility to a fledgling promotion and that is absolutely critical.
All of this discussion assumes that Hogan is telling the truth and that a deal is indeed almost in place. I hope it’s true. Because if it is than the wrestling scene is going to get very interesting.

hogan is indeed bad, hogan would be the champ forever in a promotion like that. hogan talks about boring well what exactly is he then?
but i do like bischoff being a part of it. he had a good run with wcw. i still would like to see this come alive.
Yeah Hogan is very egotistical, but who knows maybe he might not actually “wrestle” in the promotion and just work backstage. Bischoff running it is going to be awesome though, can’t think of why WWE would let him go.
Even if Hogan does start the promotion and becomes Champion in it forever, at least he and Bischoff know what’s wrong with WWE and probably what NOT to put on TV. TNA is close to doing that, but some of their gimmick matches are questionable.
The biggest thing I’m wondering is why Big Show did not wait to sign with Hogan’s supposed promotion. Those two are really good friends, wouldn’t you think Hogan wants Show all to himself?
hogan being a part of something wrestling and not actually wrestling is a stretch that i highly doubt.
