May 8th, 2007: Edge Cashes in MITB at Smackdown Tapings to Become Champ
I’m not sure what to say about the opening segment. The main point was to set up the rematch a Backlash rematch between Lashley, Vince, Umaga & Shane. My guess is that this match will have a stipulation to give the fans something different. It just can’t be another rematch. But all of this does not change the fact that I do not care about this storyline at all. I could care less and find this entire thing boring.
The women’s match was a bit different this week. It was more fast paced and a but more physical. I have high hopes for Candice Michelle. She impresses me more and more with every week that goes by. Good match, a bit too short, but still good.
The IC Title match was alright. I’m surprised that WWE didn’t have Santino face a jobber and then have Masters sneak attack him. And I’m glad they didn’t do that because that would be typical WWE writing. The match itself was decent, but I wasn’t too interested in it.
I gotta hand it to HBK, only he could make a match interesitng with The Great Khali. It was a good match and everything he did made perfect sense. He had to go all out and it didn’t work out for him in the end. The only complaint I have is why he even wanted the match with Khali in the first place. I understand that HBK wants to earn his spot, but why? HBK has been a pseudo-heel as of late. He’s a fan favorite, but still acting selfish. Oh well. I don’t think it was a good set up for the match is all I’m saying. I think a better reason should have been figured out. I’m glad Vince didn’t make the match out of anger, because we’ve seen enough of that. But something better could have been done.
The Cryme Tyme segment was stupid. Everything about it was stupid.
The tag match with Hardyz/WGTT was toooo short. It should have been slowed down and it could have been a good match. But it wasn’t given enough time so it was just a decent match.
Very interesting that Edge is the New Mr. Money in the Bank. Very very interesting. My guess is that there will be a rematch between the two and someone will cost Edge the match and the briefcase. But that’s just a guess.
Did anyone notice that King & JR sorta acknowledged Orton personal problems? Good. Tell everyone and make Orton’s life a living hell. Maybe he’ll shape up.
The main event was nothing to speak about besides ending the show with a cliffhanger. I’ve always liked the cliffhangers. You need a reason to watch next week.
WWE went back to their old formula tonight of more matches, shorter wrestling time. I didn’t like it. I think fewer matches with more time is a lot better, but that’s just me. RAW was missing that X factor tonight and thus nothing about it was exciting. It was like staring at a wall for 2 hours. The Khali/HBK match was the only thing I liked in addition to the Edge/Kennedy swerve. Besides that, RAW never got started. Waste of a night.

Kennedy lost the MITB because at one of the house shows over the weekend he got injured and is expected to miss a few months, Edge may well lose the breifcase to someone else although I doubt it but Kennedy won’t be getting it back unless they have Edge hold it until Kennedy is rwady to go in about 6 months or so.
I’m expecting to see Edge cash in the case after the Cage match on Smackdown.
With Booker, Kennedy and Taker all out for extended periods on Smackdown they need some main eventers as we can’t get 6-8 months out of Mark Henry vs Batista.
testing…
Kennedy is injured which is why Edge won the match, with Kennedy, Taker and Booker all out for a long time I’m expecting Edge to cash in after the cage match as right now Smackdown is down to Mark Henry and Batista
-BrettS- Sorry about your comments getting flagged. I’m not sure why it did that.
If Edge does cash it on Smackdown, that would make things very interesting. Tough break for Kennedy. Now that I think about it, his entire right arm was taped up last night.
Good to see you again.
looks like taker is gonna lose the cage match…….damn
i think they couldve played the cryme tyme thing alot better, just by having it after, they should show the interview, then after a couple matches show the guys stuff going missing like:
after a few matches eugene should of went up to viscera and said:
“Ummm, excuse me Mr. Viscera, but could you help me look for my medicine, I can’t find it.”
“No, sorry, I’ve gotta big juicy steak waiting for me.”
then it can show the viscera gonna eat his steak
and maybe a little later it can show someone saying
“Bye Ron.”
Ron lifts his arm without saying anything and when he gets out to the parking lot they can show him looking for his car like he did, because the script had potential, but the timing was off.
