NEWS/RUMOR: |WO via PWM 1 2| According to Wrestling Observer, RVD gave notice to WWE that he will not be staying with the company which is why RVD lost to Hardcore Holly and Elijah Burke. RVD’s contract ends this summer.
Also according to Wrestling Observer, Vince has lost all faith in Test as a headliner. More than that, Vince has no faith in the ECW roster because he believes none of them know how to work a match. As of now, the primary purpose of ECW is to push Bobby Lashley and make him a future star. Wrestling Observer also claims that ECW is only airing because they’re contractually obligated to Sci Fi meaning the brand’s future is up in the air.

February 12th, 2007: Vince Putting More Effort into ECW
I’ve been looking over my recent posts and they’re all TV results. Why didn’t anyone tell me? It must be pretty boring when all I post is TV reports and PPV reports.
I gotta say I agree with McMahon on Test. Test has been given many opportunities in WWE, but it seems like the fana just don’t care about him. I think it’s possible Test could be a star, but even that’s a stretch at this point.
ECW is dead huh? That’s pretty interesting. Now was ECW dead before Heyman left or is it dead because Heyman left? That’s the true question.
Right now I’m thinking about the past ECW shows and only one thing comes to mind, Bobby Lashley. Yes, McMahon is hell bound on making this guy a star, but I gotta say ECW has not been the same ever since Lashley got the title. When Show was champion, ECW was exciting and fun. After that, it’s all been down hill. Politics have come into play, wrestlers are unhappy, etc. ECW does has its good moments, but overall it’s been steadily declining as a brand.
So is ECW dead? I don’t know if that’s right for sure. It all comes down to McMahon in the end, but I think there’s still hope. I think Vince is too involved in ECW. He watches it too closely and changes his ideas to suit his interests. He should let his grip on ECW go a little bit and let the writers breathe a bit.

Well lets just see the ratings the last ECW had compared with WSX..
ECW 1.4
WSX 0.7
Well, if RVD leaves it’ll be hard for ECW.. And i am not pretty sure if Lashley can carry ECW, maybe CM Punk.. But its too early to say anything right now.. all we can do is stay and watch…
-zerophobia- I think it’s too early too. The Originals vs New Gus is a cool idea, but ultimtely it’ll end bad for the originals because they’re not gonna be around for long. I just can’t see all those guys (except Dreamer), being around for the long term.
ECW isn’t dead. Its not even on life support, but its going through a rough patch.
Thorn, Punk, Burke, and a few others could help support the brand. It needs to find its voice again, and Test did a lot to mess it up. If he got realeased, I wouldn’t question it for a second.
The future relies on:
-Burke
-Punk
-Thorn
-Striker (He IS very good on the mic)
-Super Crazy (Get him out of RAW)
-The “Alpha Male” Marcus Cor Von (He brough a freshness when he made his debut, but I already think he needs a stronger push. He needs a feud)
-And lastly Snitsky, I believe he looks like the Extreme Kane. He looks like a pyscho now, and who ever said that he looked like a sex crazy prison inmate was absolutely right. Lets just hope he can do well. He firs in nicely with ECW
ANd there you have it-The New Breed who will replace The Originals. I think these guys are the reason ECW should not die as of yet, although it is kinda boring. Without Ecw the New Breed (NB) will either be lost in the shuffle, or be put into Smackdown and Raw, which is not bad, but then we have a superstar overload. I think thats the good on having ECW, but it needs serious improvements
-Jason- Thanks for the comment. Since this is your first commment, I think the spam filter caught it.
I agree, a lot of improvement can be made.
I don’t think ECW should follow the same format or formula as RAW or Smackdown. I think the writing style should be different and the angles should be more strange or weird. Having the same writers from Smackdown or RAW will just make the show like SMackdown or RAW. Who wants that?
That’s just my opinion and it’s certainly not THE answer, but things do need to be done.
I forgot to mention Monty Brown(Cor Von). I think he’s been doing quite well since his debut. I like him a lot. Dear lord, change the entrance theme, though. Maybe give him one like Mr. Perfect’s or the like, to make him seem more Alpha Male.
Striker’s pretty good. He probably gets the most solid heel reaction.
I would of been in favor of moving Super Crazy a month ago, but he’s starting to build steam on Raw. Clean wins over Nitro and Masters, and a solid fan reaction that really picks up week by week, makes me think management might be willing to take a chance on him. At least an IC run.
ECW needs a hook, like the X Division. Speaking of which, if you guys got to pick one X guy for ECW or WWE in general, who would you pick?
