RAW (09.25.06) — Smackdown Attacks Cena, Edge Reinvokes his Rematch Clause, Carlito & Super Crazy Team Up and Bischoff Appears on RAW

NEWS: |Matt B| RAW comes to you live from Oklahoma City…

RAW is having many technical difficulties with no Titan Tron, sound and partial lighting.

The first match of the night is a rematch from last week (09.18.06) where Lita takes on Candice Michelle. But this is the first round in the WWE Women’s Title Tournament. Before the match starts, Lita says that this match shouldn’t be happening because the Women’s Title belongs to her. She told this to Jonathan Coachman and he agreed. So he granted her a referee of her choosing and out comes Edge. Special Guest Referee Edge checks Candice Michelle and then checks Lita. He rings the bell and then immediately spears Candice. Lita covers Candice and gets the pinfall. Right after, John Cena hits the ring and sends Edge out. He checks on Candice as we go to commercial.

When we come back, all of the technical difficulties are resolved and Cena is on the mic. He says last week Edge was complaining about not feeling good, but tonight is a different story. Cena claims that Edge turned off the power just so the fans wouldn’t see him get his ass kicked. Edge comes out with Lita and tells him to shut up. He can invoke his rematch clause whenever he wants, but it won’t be tonight. Instead, Edge is going to celebrate with his lady. Cena goes on a rant as he makes fun of Lita. He compares her to football saying everyone is trying to score in her end zone. Lita grabs the mic and says she’s sick of being made fun of every week. He’s just mad that Edge is a better wrestler than him. That the whole locker room are better at wrestling. Cena disagrees considering he’s not blind and his one armed tied behind his back. Cena issues a challenge and Edge accepts. but Edge accepts on behalf of Lita because Lita will be wrestling him tonight.

Our next match is for the Intercontinental Championship with Kane taking on Johnny Nitro. Kane comes out first followed by Nitro w/Melina. As Nitro slides into the ring, Kane grabs him throws him right back out. Kane goes outside and brings back Nitro as the two start their match with Kane in control. Irish whip by Nitro, side slam and a big boot. Kane lifts up Nitro for the Tombstone, but Umaga runs down and hits Kane with a chair. Umaga was supposed to be banned from this match by Coach, but he continues his assault. Estrada holds Kane in the corner and Umaga lifts up the steel steps and slams it into Kane’s head. Kane it out cold and Estrada & Umaga leave in satisfaction.

Backstage we see HBK reading WWE Magazine. HHH asks him what he’s doing and he says he’s reading HHH’s article. But he also noticed there’s no DX merchandise for sale. The two then plug their own merchandise on air and everyone can buy them on WWE.com. Maria approaches DX and asks them about their Gauntlet Tonight. HHH says Coach still has a problem with DX, but he’ll find out that there’s no stopping them. And with that, they have two words for him — Maria interrupts and says, “No Way.” HBK shakes his head as HHH says that’s not quite right. He whispers into her ear, but Maria is still confused. HHH offers a visual aid as he reaches for his trunks, but HBK stops him and takes him away. Eugene then comes up to her and Maria whispers her into her ear what HHH said. Eugene’s eyes light up and then he passes out.

Elsewhere backstage, Jonathan Coachman pulls Shelton aside and tells him that Vince does not discriminate based on race. Vince McMahon is not a racist. Coach explains to him that he hasn’t capitalized on the opportunities given to him which is why Vince didn’t pick him for the Hell in a Cell match at Unforgiven (09.17.06). Shelton then questions Coach and his race. Coach takes offense and then Jeff Hardy comes in acting black. Neither Coach nor Shelton have a clue what he said, but Coach ends up putting them in a match against one another. The two walk off and Edge & Lita walk in. Edge & Lita are smiling, but Coach tells them that if Edge interferes in Lita’s Match with Cena, his rematch against Cena is finished.

Back in the arena, Ric Flair defeats Mikey of the Spirit Squad. Afterwards, Kenny steps up to Flair, but then backs down to check on Mikey. As Flair leaves, Kenny is still staring at Flair in anger.

Our next match is the Gauntlet Match where DX takes on three unnamed teams. The first team is The Highlanders. HHH distracts Robby a bit while HBK Superkicks Rory. HBK covers Rory and gets the win. The next team out is Haas & Viscera. Charlie and HHH start. Several right hands by Haas, but a clothesline by HHH as he tags HBK. Shoulder to the gut by Haas and a right hand. HBK reverses it and delivers a few chops. Thumb to the eye by Haas and he tags Viscera. Vis hits a spinning sidewalk slam, a few right hands and a clothesline. Commercial. We’re back and Haas has a knee in HBK’s back. HBK back to his feet, but Haas pulls him down by the hair. HBK is able outmaneuver Viscera and then tags HHH. HHH comes in strong with some right hands, a knee drop, two clotheslines and a double clothesline with HBK. Haas tries to attack HHH, but he kicks him in the gut and hits The Pedigree. HBK superkicks Viscera and Vis falls on top of Haas. Double cover by DX and they get the win. The final team out is Cade & Murdoch. The match goes back and forth a bit. Cade & Murdoch get some cheap shots in several times. Cade brings a chair into the ring, but HBK holds him off. HHH brings in a chair of his own and he hits the chair that Cade is holding. The chair slams back into Cade’s head and the ref calls for the bell.

Promo for Cryme Tyme. They train for intensity by robbing a white guy at an ATM.

Next up is Jeff Hardy vs Shelton Benjamin. Knockdown by Shelton and a shoulder block. Hardy hits two hip tosses and pisses off Shelton. The two get into a shoving match before starting to wrestle again. Flying forearm by Hardy and Shelton pushes him out of the ring. Hardy hits the barricade and is thrown back in by Shelton. Shelton is in control as he puts on a reverse chin lock. Hardy fights to his feet and hits a jawbreaker. Flying forearm by Hardy, two clotheslines and Whisper in the Wind. Cover…One…Two…Kick up. Hardy climbs the ropes, but Shelton leaps up onto the top rope and starts punching away. Hardy punches him off, hits the Swanton and makes the cover. One…Two…Leg on ropes. Shelton gets his foot on the ropes to break the count. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate, but Shelton holds onto the ropes and Hardy slams to the mat. Shelton is smiling as he grabs Hardy. But Hardy rolls him up into a small package and gets the win.

Next match up is Chris Masters & Randy Orton vs Super Crazy & Carlito. Carlito and Masters start. Chops by Carlito and right hands by Masters. Standing drop kick by Carlito and a tag to Crazy. Drop kick by Crazy, but Masters powerbombs him. Tag to Orton. Snap mare take down by Orton into a choke hold. Crazy gets to his feet and hits a tilt-a-world. Carlito tags in and so does Masters. Carlito cleans house and then Crazy tags back in. Drop kick by Crazy, but he misses the moonsault because Orton rolls out. Inverted neckbreaker by Orton and Crazy is pushed out. Carlito runs in and pushes Orton out too. Then Masters comes behind Carlito and puts on the Master Lock. But Masters can’t lock it in as Carlito fights out and hits the Backcracker. Carlito pins Masters for the win and then gets RKO’d immediately after.

When we come back from commercial, Coach introduces his former mentor and former general manager, Eric Bischoff. Bischoff tells everyone that he signed a book deal with WWE before Vince fired him last December (12.05.05). And his book is finally done, “Contreversy Creates Cash.” Eric’s new book will piss off a lot of people including Vince McMahon. The book is nothing but truth because RAW, Vince, DX and Nitro wouldn’t have existed with him. Coach is getting really nervous and cuts off Bischoff before he goes too far.

Commercial.

When we come back, a very nervous Lita w/ Edge are waiting for WWE Champion John Cena. Cena enters the arena to a chorus of cheers. The ref ties Cena’s right hand behind his back and rings the bell. Thumb to the eye by Lita and a low blow as Edge provides the distraction. A few slaps by Lita, but Cena stands up and delivers a one-handed FU for the win. Right after, King Booker, Regal and Finlay hit the ring. Cena is scheduled to appear on Smackdown this week, but this sneak attack is early as Cena is triple teamed. Edge & Lita are enjoying the beating as Booker T grabs the mic. He tells Cena that he can’t show up in the Smackdown Kingdom when he wants. Tonight he needs to be humbled. Booker delivers the Scissors Kick and takes off his left boot. He sits on the top turnbuckle and Regal & Finlay force Cena’s face onto the Heavyweight Champions bare foot. After the three leave, Edge tells Cena that he’s invoking his rematch clause. The two will fight next week for the WWE Championship in a steel cage.

Booooorrrrrring. RAW was so damn boring.

Why did RAW have to start with another Edge/Lita/Cena segment. How many of these have we seen in the past few months? I hated it. I absolutely hated it. I’m not sure if WWE’s technical problems changed the opening, but I really don’t care because the opening segment was just dumb.

Oh here’s another poorly booked segment, the Kane/Umaga/Nitro segment. Why did Kane have a title shot against Nitro after that awesome six man match for the IC title last week? Where’s the logic in this? I’m guessing that Umaga’s interference cost Kane the IC title which further makes this feud more important. Well I still don’t care. Dumb segment.

Everything Coach told Shelton is true. Shelton hasn’t capitalized on his pushes. But I believe Shelton doesn’t throw them away because I believe he’s trying. Coach saying that Vince’s hero is Martin Luther King Jr. was pretty funny. The Shelton/Hardy match was pretty good. Wasn’t fast paced, but I enjoyed it.

Looks like a Kenny/Flair feud is coming soon. I’m looking forward to it if it happens.

I’m so tired of The King. How many times are we going hear him say, “Was that a tooth?” No King, it wasn’t a tooth. It was spit to add emphasis to the punch and we all know that. And How many times are going to hear King talk about breasts. It’s so boring. Him and JR work well together, but I think King should change it up a bit.

Jeff Hardy’s entrance music is still one of my favorites.

DX Gauntlet match was dumb.

RAW’s highlight for the past few weeks have been Super Crazy, Masters, Orton and Carlito. Every time I see these guys I know I’m going to enjoy the match. And tonight that’s exactly what happened. Another good match between these four. Not as good as last weeks, but this was still decent.

The main event took a swerve with Booker, Finlay and Regal. It makes perfect sense to have them appear, but the whole segment took wayyy too long. And then we had Edge invoke his rematch clause which wasn’t bad ending really.

Overall, RAW was boring. The whole pace and feel of the show was slow and it pretty much sucked tonight.

MONDAY NIGHT RAW, PRIME TIME SLOT, PRIME TIME SHOW and they WASTE THE LAST 8 MINUTES WITH THAT SHIT! DEAD SILENCE from the crowd for the last 8 mintues, hardly any reaction at all to that shit. How fucking boring! What a complete waste of 8 minutes and a waste of a show! You got a black Houston Texas King with a washed up Brit and a over-weight BLONDE HAIRED irishmen beating up Cena and making him kiss those ugly ass deformed feet? What the hell is WWE thinking? We know Cena will get his revenge on Smackdown like we need a build up for another pointless match. The only good part of RAW was the Jeff Hardy match. Still my favorite WWE superstar by far! So congrats WWE, keep killing the crowd and the show and FEED TNAs RATINGS. Give the fans who want real wrestling another reason to turn you off! And people wonder why Angle left the WWE……Well nough said there!

  • ShaDow says:

AHHHH!!! This isn’t good for WWE especially since TNA has Kurt Angle and Vince Russo now!!!

RAW wasn’t that bad in my opinion but it could have been alot better. This DX thing has to stop it’s getting really, REALLY dull and boring. Cena/Edge has to stop it’s boring and Cena shouldn’t have the title anyway. King Booker was cool though. He’s probably my favorite World Heavyweight Champion of all time in WWE next to Batista and Triple H.

Anyway last weeks Smackdown was better than this weeks RAW which I liked because Smackdown is starting to get really good now.

I’ve got one question, just one about tonights show:
What the F**k was the point of the DX gauntlet match? seriously, what was the f**king point really? Think the power going out at the begining was a sign of things to come.

The power should have stayed off for good! would haved saved my time!

  • Matt B says:

Seriously, the power going on was a sign of things to come.

It was one of the worst episodes of RAW I’ve seen. It was boring, slow and typical. Besides the Booker T attack and the tag match, RAW was complete crap.

They’ve been building up RAW since last week and this is what they deliver.

  • Diamond says:

Jeff Hardy, Super Crazy, Masters, Orton and Carlito. Now WWE would it not make sense to book these guys in the main event, give them more segments on the show that actually make them stars. But you will book them to become losers becuase of the inept writers.

I hate Kenny seriously, he will be another boring Cena junior!Come on Flair, tap the shit out of him!

Also WWE was trying to do something shocking like TNA, but it didnt work.

  • Matt B says:

-Diamond- Yep, Orton-Carlito-Super Crazy-Hardy-Masters-Nitro have been the best thing on RAW lately. Better than Cena,Edge,DX, Kane and Umaga.

  • Nathaniel says:

It’d be nice if they would push Orton, Carlito, Crazy, and even Masters. This guys being pushed as just filler is insulting. And please, please, please not more Not Samoa Joe his matches suck.
DX was really pushing the merch last night, with Bischoff showing up and Hogan becoming more of a presence the nwo angle will come back and we’ll have to suffer through this crap for a whole lot longer, thank god for smackdown and tna.

  • KANE says:

i liked some of those shots by finlay on cena, they looked like it hurt, and the best part on raw was king booker announcing himself i love that “King BOOOOKKKAAAAAAA!!!”

  • KANE says:

another load of crap was the umaga/kane again, he was banned, my god wat will happen next week? he will get double banned? i just want this feud to end.

  • Diamond says:

    Rikishi got arrested apparently?

  • ray says:

Booker is a crappy ass champ. His character is such a fag. It takes him 30mins to get to the ring, then he twirls like a damn fairy for 20mins. What a load of shit. And then after he wins we have to hear his stupid ass annoying wife shout “All hail king Bookaaaaaaaaa” for another 1/2hr. Boring ass hell. And who the hell wants to see his deformed ugly ass feet on TV. Bunch of haters in here….Cena is a way better champ than Booker. Obviously Cena is not a crappy wrestler because if he was WWE wouldnt keep giving him the belt and they wouldnt push him. Retards

  • osiris says:

Why is it that on smack down one shilelegh shot from Finlay knocks a guy out but on raw it takes about 20 hits for two men to push a guys face into someones feet?

  • Matt B says:

    -Osiris- Damn good point.

And the simple answer is that John Cena is not a normal person. He’s the best wrestler walking this earth and thus it takes 10 times the amount of force to knock him down.

  • ray says:

Wonder why Angle left???????????????? Vince always having people kiss his bare ass……….Men kissing other mens feet………..Men wearing dresses……….black kings with shitlocks talking ebonix/english…………midgets under the ring………..vampires biting people……pointless diva searches……..The Miz studaring on the mic and in the ring……The list goes on and on and on!

  • ray says:

Not to mention draging Eddies name thru the mud with this stupid storyline!!!!

  • Diamond says:

Vince obviously finds it normal to pull his pants down in front of male company and pull out his ass cheeks.

  • KANE says:

he probly thinks we all enjoy seeing a 60 yr old ass but i for one DO NOT!!!!!

  • Renegade Sombrero says:

You can add my onto the list of people that were pretty disapointed with Raw. I’m really tired of the Cena/Edge feud, mostly because I don’t really see the charisma (although the feud has had it’s moments) but I really think both guys need to step out of the light and make way for two guys who could put on a feud worthy of the show’s top championship.

I’d love to see a Johnny Nitro match/title defense WITHOUT being ruined by a Melina DQ! I think that it’s more than just a DAMN SHAME that the WWE books their champions to look so weak that they can’t defend their titles without having some kind of shady finish mostly because it takes away from the momentum of the show all together and flushes the effort of the two guys putting on the match right down the toilet because fans like myself go “oh what a weak ass finish” and it seems to be the common theme to have all the champions be complete jokes.
Spirit Squad needs to drop those tag titles and Raw (and the WWE in general) needs a tag team(s) to stand out and bring some attention to a truly dying art of tag team matches and tag team specialists as well.
The Gauntlet was a complete joke, if you’re going to have a team that is so over like DX… why don’t you use them to atleast get over someone else or have them take the tag straps as well??
Also..I thought the new GM was going to be announced..what the hell happened there?

  • ray says:

I agree. I hate seeing people remain champs by cheating. I mean people can be heel-champs without cheating. Nitro always cheats, with Melians help. Edge always cheated, with Litas help too. Booker has done nothing but cheat. It is a damn shame that they make the champs look so weak and the matches are so obvious. Theres just no secrect to it any more. To boring and predictable.

  • KANE says:

and all the face champs can dominate a match and still win even when theyr opponent does cheat, like cena and mysterio, wat a joke.

  • ray says:

Kane your argument sucks. The point each cheating. They are face, they dont cheat, they win. What the hell r u ing to trying to say?

  • ray says:

The point EACH of us is trying to make is cheating. I just dont understand ur point of view.

  • Diamond says:

Ray, Kane meant that the heels are not coming up with creative finishes to matches all they do is the same cheat finish to win. They dont build up the match they just do the same thing at the end.

They need to do diff finishes so that the audience is guessing. We all know that a title reign will not end on a PPV, maybe they should be a bit more creative, so we are into the match untill the bell rings.

Ray do you still like TNA?

  • ray says:

Oh ok. Yes absolutely I love TNA. I never really get bored at all watching it. I am really excited to see Angle in TNA though. Great addition. And I agree, you know there aint ever gonna be a title change on a regular show (HARDLY EVER). So they try to build up all this hype on Raw and Smackdown for title matches and you already know the outcome. Waste of time in my opinion. Its just getting old. When you spend this much time on ENTERTAINMENT and not WRESTLING then you start to run out of GOOD IDEAS and you start repeating yourself and putting out bullshit. I understand why Kurt left the WWE, its not hard to see.

  • KANE says:

actually i kinda meant that if a heel was champ like edge he can cheat and win, but if cenas champ, edge can cheat all he wants and destroy cena, but cena still manages to beat edge.

  • ray says:

They need to quit relying on DUMB storylines and CHEATING to carry the shows!

  • Matt B says:

-Ray- Which storylines do you find dumb?

  • Diamond says:

Ray come to the TNA blog……..TNA does do some amazing stuff, but they need to stick to action.

  • KANE says:

i hope wwe will start to realize that tna is indeed for real and should be taken as a serious threat and they should up their program quality.

  • ray says:

I agree TNA is wrestling first. It has more of a wrestling feel and the wrestlers bring a ton of intensity to the show. Matt………where should I start, dumb storylines huummmmmm. Booker T acting like a fairy fag spining in the ring making people kiss his nasty ass feet while they all chant All Hail King Bookaaaaa, Shelton claiming the WWE is racist, Anything involving the Spirit Squad, Anything involving Hulk Hogan PUSHING himself or PUSHING everything his daughter does, The Chavo/Rey storyline draging Eddies name thru mud over and over again, This MVP crap, The Miz….I think I covered it all Matt.

  • ShaDow says:

    ALL HAIL KING BOOKER!!!!

  • KANE says:

no, u forgot the kane umaga feud, the cena edge feud, and how boring it is seeing cena diss lita each and every week, hes done it for like a year now and its all old crap.

  • KANE says:

i still think people like owen hart and brian pillman should be remembered a lot more like eddie is, hell, they deserve the hall of fame as much as eddie does.
