Does anyone care if Hogan competes at SummerSlam? I sure as hell don’t. HBK carried his ass exactly one year ago at SummerSlam 2005 and the same thing will happen this year. The only difference this time is that Orton vs Hogan is not a dream match like Hogan vs HBK was.
Hogan vs Austin is still the dream match to beat, and hopefully it will be an anything goes kind of match..
its always hard to beleive when hogan says he’s doing something for the fans, for some reason his motives have always seemed money driven not so much fan driven. i was hoping he wouldn’t make summerslam but… looks like he’ll main event two years straight.
as far as the austin/hogan dream match goes, austin far from 100%, hogan never gives more then 15% so the match wouldn’t live up to the bill it might have when austin was at his peek as wwe champion. hogans to much like a child that needs to be carried all the way, and austin just isn’t in the right condition to carry him.
Also Hogan doesnt want Austin to dominate, come on Hogan we were happy when you came back once, but your not in Austins league, just you go cheered against The Rock, sont think your the man. It will always be Stone Cold Steve Austin!!!
Also Vince loves the 80s more than Attitude era wrestlers. This is why Hogan thinks so much of himself. Why did HBK lose to Hogan last year?

Hogan is a joke….always has been. He is out for the dinero only. He refuses to look bad in the ring. How many times have we seen Hogan finally get beat down only for him to get that surge of comic book adrenaline received from all the Hulkamaniacs cheering. I think it’s time Hogan walks away from the ring. What he gets paid is not worth his value at this point in his career. He should be getting “Eugene” money….because no one cares or believes in the mystique of Hulkamainia anymore. “Whatcha gonna do when this crippled old man runs wild on you?!”
R.Keane is right, Hogans a has been and his entrance takes forever, be careful Hulk you may bust your knee. Also people keep saying that Hogan is the reason WWE exists. Well it is partly true, but when WWF was in similar state as it is now, in the mid 90s, who saved WWE then.
It was the Attitude era guys, they put WWE on the map, Hogan had left long before. Thanks to Russos work and all the new wrestlers, WWE seemed refreshing. Also ECW and WCW influence kicked WWE into a highly profitable company.
So Hogan is not the only one who put WWE on the map. Dont you guys remember Austin T shirts and every person saying his catchphrase and Thats The Bottom Line cause I said so.
I love the attitude era yes, but it did not make wrestling what it is today – it merely helped WWF overcome WCW, along with things like Pokegate and Tony Schiavone.
BUT Hogan made Wrestling what it is… back in the 80’s wrestling was laughable – it was for really young kids or old women who went along to scream at the bad guys and throw their handbags at them… it was not at all cool to be into wrestling in the 80’s… But Hogan came along and became bigger than the sport. He and Vince MADE wrestling the business it is now.
This is shown by the fact that when Hogan left for WCW, Ratings went WCW’s way! He WAS wrestling back then. and to write everything that he has done off is a wrongen pals.
Ok if Attitude era did not have a same effect then why did it make Vince a monopoly in this industry. Plus this was a new style as it stopped the circus style and became more now. Hulks & Mcmahons style dont work, that is why WWE has gone downhill now.
So Attitude era did build WWF and has made wrestling again, untill Vince stopped following it.
Hulk style stopped being interesting in the 90s and Attitude era made wrestling cool again.
Also Hogan has partly killed the business, by his creative control. It is one of the factors that put WCW out of business.
Without WCW, WWE has started to go downhill………
Johnson, your wrong the fans made it what is is (was) I muself never liked hogan and I’m not alone in that, Hogan and Vince has always been about the $$$$$ and not the doing anything for the fans if he they had maybe Hogan would of given us true 80’s fans better matches instead of the same old stupid crap night after night, leg drop and a pin give me a break !! I was at a live WCW event in Daytona Beach when JJ had the title and jsut before the show Hogan decided he wanted to make a come back and have the title again and JJ was told he had to drop the belt to the piece of shit Hogan. Hogan was not suppose to get the title but he had so much creative control the basturd tried to yank the title from JJ who had just gotten it, JJ came out first and was pissed, I had ring side seats and heard every word JJ was saying to the Ref and he was totally pissed he had to give up the title, JJ got on the mic when Hogan came down and told him that if he wanted the title that bad to come pin him and then JJ laid flat on his back for Hogan and that really pisssed off Hogan so much that he stormed out of the arena. The show stopped for 10 minutes they didn’t know what to do, finally JJ came back out to the ring and Said the crybaby Hogan had left but he would wrestle Booker T for the title and that was a great match, of course JJ had to drop the belt to Booker he was punnished for not wrestling Hogan, That when Hogan Sued WCW over that night. So Hogan is a piece of crap !!
I like the little wrestling shows NWA florida, AWA, Mid Atlantic wrestling, VonErics in Texas, man that was better than watching Hogan any day !!
Exactly, all that happened is that Vince, took the wrestlers from territories put it on mainstream TV, but still had one big babyface as Hulk.
By being on TV it helped and they did make it bigger, but there were other TV shows of other companies before this, but with less resources and smaller outlets.
So Vince/Hulk in the eighties in the mainstream were smart and they did rule the 80s. But after that WCW and ECW took the light and pushed WWE futher as Vince is a rich out of touch with the times man. He is smart for changing with the times, but sometimes you do not always have the tools at your dispoasal.
With all that said..

Ric Flair… Sting??? who were they in the 80’s …. nobodies on some crappy wrestling shows – sure Flair held the title however many times, but it wasnt the title that the immortal Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant fought over – bigger and better things were happening with WWF at that time – noone else even came close. Hogan was wrestling in the 80’s… if he hadnt existed, i very much doubt wrestling would be like it is now… he is wrestling heritage and deserves respect – its like if there hadnt been an Adolf Hitler there wouldnt have been a war, so you wouldnt have to respect old war veterans… there was a war and those people demand respect cos of how they fought in it. I knew when he got in the ring….what the match was going to look like and what the outcome was before the bell rang. He was in the right place at the right time. His Rocky appearance is what pushed him to his role as ambassador of wrestling. Think about it…..don’t you think the Rock could have done the same thing if it was the same scenario 20 yrs ago? No, he could have done better, because at least he can sell his opponet and wrestle. Hogan should be known as the luckiest wrestler to ever step foot in the ring.

I think its Jbob, whatever his name is saying Sting and Flair were smaller. Flair is bigger and better than Hulk as well as guys like Steamboat. Vince ruled the 80s by doing everything bigger and better, taking elements from other sports and adding them to wrestling.
But when they say its the only revolution, then it becomes annoying. The 90s were a even bigger revolution, but every decade has its stars and promoters. You could say the guy who invented the World title, really revolutionised the business.
ozzygreybeard….I was around back then before hogan and things were just fine and agree Hogan needs to get on with his life and quit trying to steal the spot light from the wrestlers of today…he made HBK job to him and now he comes back out of no where and wants to get in the spot light again at the PPV. Flair worked his tail off all those years, he went out night after night giving his all, he could go 1 hour matches, Hogan never went more than 15 minutes in his life unless he was in a tag match and then the other guy would do all the work and Hogan would come in with the stupid leg drop and take the pin.

Hogan has charisma… most of you probably werent alive to see it – when he came out it was electrifying just like the Rock or Austin the attitude era – everyone had a buzz and was cheering him on.
Im not gonna say i want to see him wrestle now, i agree he is well past it and has no business getting back in the ring the couple of times a year he does (same goes for Flair by the by)
BUT he demands respect and should have it. Wrestling was a JOKE in the 80s…. you laughed at my Kids and Old Ladies comment… sorry BROTHER but thats the truth – thats who watched Wrestling until Wrestlemania and Hogan came along – it started to get cool. and cos fans were still pretty fickle about how “real” wrestling was and the scripting and stuff, everyone followed Wrestling as Vince McMahon wanted them too. Cheer on that good guy and eat your vitamins, boo those big bad guys like Earthquake and Andre!
Wrestling was simpler then, and the repetitive moves and good vs evil matches were popular…. wrestling fans have grown up since then, and knowing how scripted it all is people like Bret Hart and HBK came along as the bad guys you could cheer and ofcourse the ultimate one Austin.
Moves have got more technical and so have the storylines. Different eras, i dont think Hogan belongs in this era true – but to say he should never have wrestled he has no talent is rubbish. He had talent and charisma he did what people wanted to see. and i have no doubt that Hogan put wrestling into the mainstream – obviously thanks inpart to Vince.
