NEWS: |WWE PWI| WWE has announced that Hogan may have a cracked meniscus and might drop out of SummerSlam. Hogan says his knee has been hurting for a few weeks, but his constant touring with Brooke has made it hard for him to properly attend to it. Hogan has scheduled an MRI with more news coming later.

It should be noted that PWInsider believes something else is going on.

August 9th, 2006: Hogan Will Wrestle at SS
August 6th, 2006: Early MRI Results Show Partially Torn Meniscus

I know PWInsider believes there’s more to this story, but I kinda doubt it. Hogan is all about money and getting a paycheck. He knows SummerSlam is the best paycheck he can get for the amount of work he’s putting in so I doubt he’d lie about this. But who knows…

This is just like when Stone Cold pulled out of Taboo Tuesday — the day before. Everyone had already bought the PPV for him.

(In the end, it was a hopelessly horrible PPV.)

Hogan has and will always be about the money. Him not showing at summerslam or any future events can only better wee.

  11. on 05 Aug 2006 at 3:55 pmDiamond

Most likely, the match would have not been that memorable, Orton had plenty of big wrestlers beaten, but he still seems the same. He doesnt go to the next level bottom line an got very little heat from dissing Hogan.

Hogan knows that if the match is a mess, he will get blamed and wil never be considered for future matches. So maybe it is a smart decision, sacrifice one paycheck, so that you can get future paychecks.

    Interesting scenario though……….

This is all to do with Brooke, hogan saw the reaction here and realised that it was a bad idea to try and use WWE and his rep to get Brooke ahead in the music biz… she will just end up in the company that way, or just completely disrespcted in the Music Biz, cos she is Hogans daughter and used wrestling to get famous.

Very few make i big by using wrestling and then getting more successful.. Rock is the only one that immediately springs to mind, Stacy Kiebler might emulate that success - Hogans Movies certainly didnt get him bigger outside wrestling.

So i just think this is Hogan backing down cos he realised this wasnt a good move for Brooke - He wouldnt have cared if it was going well otherwise…. what i mean is that if Brooke was being used in the feud, then he would have carried on (my opinion anyway)… captain america wasnt good, he still carried on, one legged people and all!!! Hogan will take any pay cheque for anything, unless family is involved.

  13. on 05 Aug 2006 at 7:37 pmJohnson

in the third paragraph that should say…. “what i mean is that if Brooke WASN’T being used….”

    not was.

  14. on 05 Aug 2006 at 9:05 pmNathaniel

hogan and orton would (and will if it still happens) just be a hogan love fest, orton will need to carry to match and sell the big hogan comeback at the end. the match does nothing but feed the ego of hogan and give him airtime to pimp brooks cd.
sorry but i’d be happy if hogan never returned to the ring. he’s never really been about the fans but the money, watching his stint in wcw cemented that fact.
besides one less raw match means another brand can have an extra match… with luck

the hulkster has never lost a summerslam why start now with randy orton

  16. on 06 Aug 2006 at 9:42 amMatt B

I’m pretty sure Hogan wants a clean win over Orton. And if Randy Orton were to win, there would circumstances like cheating or an injury or some reason to make Hogan still look “immortal.”

If this is a work and Hogan is trying to protect his legacy, then its bad.

The question is why does Vince keep putting over Hogan, when he never pushes newer guys. Benjamin needed to get over a while back and now is stuck in the same position. Austin 3:16 told Hulk & Vince to F off, good on him.

This is the same is with Carlito and guys with very little potential are always winning like Umaga, John Cena, JBL and Batista.

If a talented wrestler like Benoit or Booker T, gets the gold then they go back to the midcard division soon after.
Edge doesnt get enough time as champion, DX is always hogging the limelight.

Other than HHH, the rest are pathetic heavyweights. Is this a WWE policy, so that HHH stays top dog.

I know I am going off the topic in disscussion, but HHH in countless interviews said they are trying to get newer guys over.

How many guys has he got over as I have seen him destroy most talented guys, accept for losing to Benoit. The rest of the guys he has lost to are not Heavyweights and have very little talent. Which means his position is protected.

Why do you think Y2J and CC have left. No wonder all the established wrestlers are leaving, Trish being the latest one.

So conclusion, WWE has become a show for untalented/ not ready wrestlers or HHH. Also Hogan going over every year for big paychecks.

  18. on 06 Aug 2006 at 10:59 amDiamond

Also the feud has been dead.

  19. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:07 amDiamond

Matt B my previous comment, I done alot of analysis but it hasnt printed.

  20. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:17 amDiamond

    thanks!!!

  21. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:20 amMatt B

-Diamond- In all fairness to Hogan, he’s a wrestler that will always be popular. I mean ALWAYS. Hogan is in a league of his own when it comes to wrestling and the problem is he knows that and he exploits it for all it’s worth.

I would much rather see Orton fight someone else. At least that way we’ll get a good wrestling match.

Actutally, a great match at SummerSlam would be a Fatal Fourway between Shelton Benjamin, Carlito Cool, Johnny Nitro and Randy Orton for the IC Title.

  22. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:28 amI

Hogan sucks, they think that him being on the show will get more buys for the PPV, wrong who wants to see Hogan again come in for 1 match and of course win with that stupid leg drop. He has creative control, look what happened with HBK.
HBK had to let Hogan win thats just BS and I think Stone Cold is the man for tell Hogan to go F himself. I loved the cold shoulder Stone Cold gave Hogan at the Hall of Fame Awards, That was the best !!!

  23. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:33 amDiamond

Yeah that would be off the charts, WWE has got to go through building stars and forgetting about big matches.

As big matches is what WCW used to do and ignored the upcoming talent. WCW also put pathetic heavyeights in the division instead of the right ones. Look what happened to that company, so build a set of top stars, not just one.

Hogan might be going through the WCW diesease, when after a while people just didnt care as they knew who is he going to wrestle or put over.

Hogan only got good when he started to wrestle talented attitude wrestlers.

  24. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:35 amDiamond

WWE is in the same stage as there are no talented wrestlers getting pushed and are being wasted.

  25. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:37 amDiamond

-I- its cool to see you back again.

  26. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:39 amundertaker

i woul rather see orton or hulk hogan perhaps against uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumagaaaaaaaaaaaa.

    sorry about that

  27. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:40 amundertaker

who thinks triple h will beat jamal oops i mean umaga on raw?

  28. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:45 amundertaker

me for one,i think its funny to see people with different gimmicks like umaga = jamal. chainsaw charlie = terry funk. the list gos on + on

  29. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:49 amDiamond

The important fact is none of these guys are cool and are starting to join the train of wrestler that just dont draw.

  30. on 06 Aug 2006 at 11:49 amDiamond

Umaga is Samoa Joes bitch, bottomline…….

  31. on 06 Aug 2006 at 12:14 pmundertaker

    i heard he is undeafeated

  33. on 06 Aug 2006 at 12:51 pmDiamond

Samoa Joe just beats the shit out of his opponents, but also is good at promos and making matches interesting.

  34. on 06 Aug 2006 at 3:34 pmbobo

    wat de fuck are promos????

  35. on 06 Aug 2006 at 4:03 pmDiamond

Well if you know then good and if you dont, you might realise. Wrestling should be kept within a circle, thats that and watch it as a show and have a support your faviorite wrestler. Thats the best things fans can do.

  36. [...] NEWS: |WWE| Here’s a quick Hogan injury update. His early MRI results on his knee show a “partially torn meniscus.” Hogan says he will not be having surgery because it would mean his bad knee would have to carry the load. He received a cortisone shot for the inflammation and pain with a re-evalution later on this week. For now, Hogan will not be on RAW tomorrow night… [...]

  37. on 06 Aug 2006 at 8:08 pmJohnson

Diamond in post 17 you talk about Y2J and Trish leaving cos of Vince…. very unlikely!!!

Y2J left cos he wants his rock band to be big, or just to be famous in other ways…. Trish wants to be a movie star and also apparantely Lita will leave at the end of her contract cos she wants movies too.

Its the curse for Vince now - he has been so good at making stars, that they all want fame in more creditable ways. Im sure WWE Paychecks are nice, but we know Stacy Kiebler made more in a few weeks on Dancing Stars than she did in a year with WWE - There is more money to be made from Movies than there is going on the road with WWE for 52 weeks.

Vince making WWE movies is a poor attempt at stopping this, but i think it will make it worse, but the WWE wrestlers in movies and they will get a taste for it - It happened with Rock, he got a small role in that mummy film and then got the lead in the next mummy film and the taste was good.

Unfortunately doing movies is more fun to some than wrestling all year.

  38. on 06 Aug 2006 at 10:35 pmI

Samoa Joe is the best all around big (kinda fat) wrestler ever, his matches are all intense and he can talk great (promos) and he is himself not in any stupid costume.

  39. on 07 Aug 2006 at 8:23 amDiamond

I is right about Samoa Joe, Joe Joe Joe Joe. Johnson your right someways, Vince did allow them to become mega stars as he was the guy who tells you, yes or no.

But Y2J had awesome matches with everyone and was memorable. This guy is the most consistent, in the last 4-5 years. So he deserves to be at the top.

In any real sport the best team always win, the ones that win matches and score higher than others. So in wrestling terms, the one who cuts great promos, has great matches with everyone, should be the top guy.

Austin and The Rock left, so he would have been perfect to take the position. But he wasnt and decided to leave rather than job to everyone.

His title win, is obvious that someone in Management screwed him, Steph & H trying to protect themselves. That is why WWE is an awful position, HHH has made it a mockery.

The divas are leaving as they get better offers, as they earn less. But the locker room is no longer fun to be in as all the old wrestlers have left. We were lucky to have the attitude class of wrestlers, we may never see one like it again.
